Phoenix Men Win 2-Point Thriller Against Pirates

The NSW Phoenix Men pulled off an extraordinary win on the road against the Queensland Pirates in round 4 of the Scape Australian Volleyball Super League, triumphing 3-2 but only finishing 2 total rally points ahead of their opponents in the closest match of the season so-far.

Phoenix won the first set 17-18 before the Pirates reversed that score in the second set 18-17 to level the sides at a set-a-piece. The third set went to NSW by the same scoreline, 17-18, and then Queensland repeated the favour in the fourth set 18-17 to set up an epic fifth-set decider with cumulative rally points also dead-even at 70-70.

Robert Murdoch and Jarvis Page were exceptional throughout, but combined on what would be the winning point with NSW taking the fifth set and the match 16-18.
