Steel Men Steal Storm’s Thunder
The Perth Steel Men have maintained their challenge for top spot on the Scape Australian Volleyball Super League ladder with a 2-3 win on the road against the Adelaide Storm in their penultimate game of the season.
A big crowd turned out to Adelaide 36ers Arena to catch the red-hot Storm in action, with a big win the motivation with prime position on the ladder leading into finals on the cards. They didn’t disappoint, taking the opening set 18-15.
An injury to Storm star Regan Fathers early in the second set soured the mood, and the Steel rallied to claim a nailbiter 17-18 to level the scores.
Riding the momentum, Perth claimed sets three and four 14-18 and 16-18 to secure the over all win, but Adelaide claimed the all-important fifth-and-final 18-13 which should be enough to stop the Steel from overtaking the Storm at the top of the ladder.
